We have delivered some interesting and useful improvements in Teams Free so continue reading for more details!
Start instant meeting in group chat
We are excited to introduce a new feature that makes spontaneous meetings in Teams Free easier than ever. You can now start an instant meeting with everyone in a group chat with just a click of a button.
Starting an instant meeting from a group chat is simple. Open the group chat, click ‘Meet now’ at the top, and the meeting will begin. Others will see a live indicator and can join by selecting ‘Join’ from their chat list. To notify others, select the live indicator and choose ‘Ring others to join.’ You can ring individual people or anyone who isn’t in the meeting. When you’re ready to leave, select ‘Leave’ from your call window.
Key benefits
- Spontaneous Meetings: Instantly meet with members of a group chat without disrupting or ringing others.
- Seamless Collaboration: Keep all messages in one place for easy access and reference.
- Enhanced Communication: Ensure everyone in the group chat is aware of and can join the meeting effortlessly.
- No Participant Limit: Enjoy the flexibility of having more than 20 participants in your instant meetings.
Skype chats and contacts in Teams Free
We announced about a month ago that Skype will be retired in May 2025. You can now sign in to Teams Free with your Skype account and continue chatting and calling with your contacts on Teams. During the transition period (before May 5, 2025), Teams Free users can call and chat with Skype users and Skype users can do the same with Teams Free users.
