What’s new in Teams for Personal | October 2024

October has been busy, and we’ve rolled out several upgrades in Teams (free). Grab some coffee and read on for the updates.

Device settings (desktop)

We have heard your feedback about the importance of configuring your camera and audio setup before a meeting. This is now possible with device settings which enable you to:

  • Easily adjust your audio, video, and other device preferences directly from the Teams desktop app.
  • Personalize your experience: Tailor the settings to suit your specific needs and preferences, ensuring a smoother and more efficient experience.
  • Quick access to controls: Access and modify your device settings with just a few clicks, making it more convenient than ever to stay connected and productive.

Automatic translations for community messages (mobile)

You can now automatically translate community messages into your native language on mobile. The new auto-translate feature works for community posts and replies, detecting foreign languages and translating them to your selected language in real time.

Additionally, we have introduced a “tap to translate” feature in Communities. This function will identify foreign languages and present the option to translate directly on the message – it also includes a “never translate” option for those who prefer to read the text in its original language.

Enhancements to the Photos tab (desktop)

You can now seamlessly jump to a message or post directly from the Photos tab without the hassle of scrolling through the chat or community feed. By right-clicking on an image and selecting “View in Chat” or “View in Community,” you can quickly locate the message or post linked to that specific photo.

Another improvement is that the images on the Photos tab are now conveniently grouped by date and month, enabling you to find their images with ease. We have also refined the visual presentation of images within the Photos Tab.

You share, we listen.

We are always grateful to receive your feedback and suggestions to make Teams better.
