Set sound notifications in Teams

With the frequent influx of notifications, maintaining focus can be challenging, especially when they are accompanied by sounds. Fortunately, you can enhance your sound notification settings in Teams for Personal on both desktop and web versions. Additionally, you have the option to mute notification sounds during meetings or when occupied. An exciting feature available on Teams for Windows 11 is the ability to choose custom notification sounds.

How to adjust your sound notifications in Teams for Personal?

Tap the three dots in the top right corner to open Settings. Under Notifications and activity, you’ll find the sound notification options.

Play sounds with notifications – This setting lets you enable sounds for standard alerts such as chats, and on Windows 11, you can select the notification sound.

Play sounds with incoming calls, requests to join, and meeting start notifications – We recommend keeping this on to ensure you don’t miss any important calls or Teams meeting notifications.

Play sounds when I’m busy or in a meeting – To reduce distractions during Teams meetings or when your status is set to Busy, you can turn this off.

How to customize the notification sound in Teams?

To configure sound for standard notifications, check the Play sounds with notifications box and pick one of the eight available options from the drop-down menu. You can listen to a preview of your selected notification sound by clicking the Play button. Note that this feature is presently only available on Windows 11.
